Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the addition of two crosslinking agent ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) to 4-META/MMA-TBB resin (Super-Bond C&B, Sun Medical) on the flexural properties and tensile bond strength to titanium. Experimental resins containing 1, 2, 5, and 10 wt% containing EGDMA or TEGDMA were prepared. Flexural test specimens were made according to the ISO 4049 standard. The tensile bond strengths of the experimental resins to titanium were measured before and after thermocycling (2000 times). The flexural modulus increased in resins containing 1, 2, and 5 wt% EGDMA and 1 and 2 wt% TEGDMA, when compared to control (P<0.05). The flexural strengths increased only in resins containing 1 and 2 wt% EGDMA and 2 wt% TEGDMA. In the case of tensile bond strength before thermocycling, 5 wt% EGDMA- and 1 wt% TEGDMA-containing resins increased the values significantly (P<0.05). At 2000 thermocycles, 5wt% EGDMA- and 2 wt% TEGDMA-containing groups showed significant increases in the value when compared to control (P<0.05).
